The butterfly pleco is a beautiful species, popular for its distinctive striped pattern as well as its size. Since butterfly plecos don’t get to be as large as other algae eaters, they can be kept in smaller tanks of 60L plus at minimum, as compared to others who need twice that. They’re also very peaceful, making them an excellent maintenance fish for smaller communities. They thrive if kept in groups of 3 or more.
It has the ability to change its colour according to the surroundings.

Special Requirements - Can be susceptible to high Nitrate and regular water changes are a must.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – They are a peaceful plec that can be kept with any small fish. They are happy in cooler aquariums.
Feeding – They are an omnivores and should be fed a good quality varied died that includes a good percentage of vegetable matter. Cucumber makes an excellent treat for them.
