The Orange Blotch is said to be a man made cichlid which is a cross between a number of other cichlids over the years. The colours can be fantastic and it is not particularly aggressive. The males normally only take a disliking to their own kind unless their territory is invaded.
It likes hard alkaline water around 25-28°C, although they will tolerate slightly higher or lower temperatures. Some salt may be added but they do fine without.
